Lanterns were in memory of Elizabeth

SKY lanterns were released into the night air in memory of a former Malvern woman who died six months ago at the age of just 50.

Family and friends of Elizabeth Hambrey gathered together on Saturday (March 5) and released 51 lanterns, each containing a personal message, to mark what would have been her 51st birthday.

Mrs Hambrey, who died of lung cancer, lived in Malvern for 10 years while working as a Ministry of Defence police officer. The tribute was held at her daughter Samantha’s home in Clerkenwell Crescent.

Mrs Hambrey’s husband Peter, who travelled up from Portsmouth where he now lives, said about 20 people joined in the occasion.

“Family members and friends from around the country turned up, and it was a very fitting tribute,” he said.
